The four short video statements – i want to be … – reveal a more carefree attitude. Sissa Micheli projects children’s desires – to be large and strong and to be able to fly. So socks flutter through the picture like birds; a smoking volcano is made from a simple hat; a soft skirt becomes a tree stump; a woman’s shoe lives its boldest dreams as a gondola on the canals of Venice, gliding over the water. These improvised conversions tell of the urge to change and to be free. However, these actions also tell of social borders, because the fact remains that the woman’s shoe can never ascend to the likes of the gondola.
