In her videos and photo series Sissa Micheli deals with the functionality of different media at the intersection of the traditional analogue compositions of motion picture (cinema/television) and photography (slide/Polaroid) and their relative, digitally generated cousins. She constantly tests the limits of different genres, links them, and/or alternately trespasses their borders. This can also be seen in her treatment of drawing and installation. Her works tell stories through the narrative structure and visual language of the detective film; she adopts its requisites and sounds as found elements.
